Wicked Lovely book review

Wicked Lovely (Wicked Lovely Book #1 of 5) by Melissa Marr

Hardcover328 pages
Read: May 2 - May 3
Rating: 2.5/5
Genres: Supernatural, Young Adult, Fantasy, Romance
Summery: Rule #3: Don't stare at invisible faeries.
Aislinn has always seen faeries. Powerful and dangerous, they walk hidden in the mortal world. Aislinn fears their cruelty - especially if they learn of her Sight - and wishes she were as blind to their presence as other teens.
Rule #2: Don't speak to invisible faeries.
Now faeries are stalking her. One of them, Keenan, who is equal parts terrifying and alluring, is trying to talk to her, asking questions Aislinn is afraid to answer.
Rule #1: Don't ever attract their attention.
But it's too late. Keenan is the Summer King, who has sought his queen for nine centuries. Without her, summer itself will perish. He is determined that Aislinn will become the Summer Queen at any cost — regardless of her plans or desires.
Suddenly none of the rules that have kept Aislinn safe are working anymore, and everything is on the line: her freedom; her best friend, Seth; her life; everything.

Review: This story starts with a prologue of a girl hoping to be the Summer Queen. I did not hate this book, there were definitely problems, but the book was not as bad as I thought it would be. This was definitely a guilty pleasure read. The plot was at quite a few points confusing to me, the reasons for quite a few things were also not explained in the book (although there are 4 more books, plus I think 3 or 4 short stories in this series so there might be some explanation in those, although I don't really think there will be), the things I liked most about this story were the characters and the relationships. I liked quite a few of the characters, I think Donia, along with Aislinn might have been my favorite, and the respect at least that seemed to be forming between Keenan and Seth. While I found problems with the book, and I can also see why other people would not like this book/series, I enjoyed it for what it was.

Hope everybody had/has a great day : )
